The nature world is all about realism. But if you get a glimpse from a certain angle and distance, it can be an abstract work of art. 
The painting is done as a study for a much bigger painting.

this is more than abstract, it's a symphony in a minor key... the balance of tones and the shapes formed play beautifully.
